Catherine Ernestine "Ernie" Melton

1936 - 2022

MELTON, Catherine "Ernie" Ernestine, age 85, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents; and she was the last of seven children. Ernie spent many years as a Floral Designer and retired from the profession. She was a faithful Christian and enjoyed traveling, gardening and sewing. She had great love for all of her family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Billy W. Melton; sons, Joseph Inge (Pamela), Stephen Inge (Amy); and daughter, Mary Catherine Ashworth. She is also survived by Ronald and Steve Melton and their families; as well as her grandchildren, Ashley, Jason, Tori, Hailey, Chad, Brandon, Patricia, Becky, Josh and Kate; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Catherine will be held Friday, April 29, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va. 23005.
