Cecil A. Moorhead

MOORHEAD Cecil A. Moorhead, CW2 (Retired), passed away on August 12, 2006 at his home in LaCrosse, Va. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn J. Moorhead on June 26, 2006. He was a native of Kittaning, Pa. Cecil served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years. He served tours of duty in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Germany and in the USA. During his service to his country, he was awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and Combat Infantry Badge, along with numerous other awards and commendations. After retiring from the military, Cecil worked as a forensic scientist for the Commonwealth of Virginia Crime Lab in Richmond for 15 years. He is survived by his four daughters and their families: Patty and Martin Rich of Fredericksburg, Va., Teresa L. Smith and Page Goffigan, Darlene and Andrew Alexander, Sonya and Willie Reamey, all of LaCrosse, Va. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Cecil was predeceased by two sisters and is survived by one half-brother, Tommy Moorhead; and three half-sisters, Sandra Cipponeri, Barbara Buzulecin, and Cordelia Tutino. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at the American Legion Hall, Post 79, 213 Brook Ave., South Hill, Va. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
