Chad Roberson Obituary

Chad Michael Roberson

September 24, 1986 - December 19, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of Chad Michael Roberson shares the sudden passing of our cherished son, brother and grandson. Chad was preceded in death by his loving father, Kenneth Wayne Roberson (1992), his paternal grandfather, Horace W. Roberson, and his stepsister, Lisa M. Taylor. He is survived by his son, Brayden Randolph Moore, his mother and stepfather, Michele Wilbourne Roberson and Robert Taylor, his brother, Travis Wayne Roberson and fiancée Dana Schnurman, and his stepbrother, Keith Langford (Erica). He is also mourned by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Pamela Wilbourne, and his paternal grandparents, Judith and A.C. Little, Jr. and Patricia Roberson as well as many loving extended family members and friends. Chad grew up in Varina and was a 2004 graduate of Fork Union Military Academy where he excelled in academics and sports lettering in football, cross country, and baseball. He continued his education at Longwood University and graduated with honors in 2008 with a BSBA in Finance and Real Estate and was a member of Pi Kapp Fraternity. After graduation, Chad packed up his old jeep and headed North with no guarantees of housing or employment. His first stop was Boston, MA where he researched potential employers, even calling the offices of CEO's and introducing himself. Eventually one CEO actually returned his phone call and invited him to lunch. Two days later he was offered a position with that investment firm, and he was off and running. Three years later, in 2011 he achieved his dream of moving to New York City and working in the financial district. He worked at various firms in the city over the past 13 years and most recently as an acquisitions associate and financial analyst with Delshah Capital and Eagle Point Properties. Chad returned to Richmond in March '24 and was working remotely commuting to NYC monthly. Chad had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and was a voracious reader. He was hardworking, highly motivated and goal oriented. He traveled the world and embraced different cultures and history. He scheduled time each day to practice yoga, meditate and exercise. Since moving back to RVA he enjoyed frequent visits with family, reconnecting with friends, and jogging along the James River near his home. He also formed new friendships with his neighbors. Chad prioritized time with his grandparents and truly valued their commitment and active role in his and Travis' life following the loss of their father at such a young age. Chad leaves behind his two much loved cats, Pepper and Lookja who brought him tremendous joy. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, January 4 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4560 S. Laburnum Ave where services will be held at 2 p.m. Private interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to a charity of your choice.

Your son was a very special man. I came to know him at Longwood and we managed to keep in touch. He was always destined for greatness and success, and achieved so much during his life. My sincere condolences to all who loved him.

Many wonderful memories of Chad since he was 2-3 years old and came to the Dentist with his Dad! He was so precious and I wanted a little boy like him! I got the privilege of seeing Chad as an adult at the Dentist when he came in from Boston or NY. He was kind, funny and still charming! Very beloved by his family, especially his grandparents! My sincere prayers continue for his family and others
