Barbara - it's been many years, but I wanted to reach out and express my condolences for your loss. I remember the many Mondays you would come into the office sunburnt from a weekend of sailing with Charlie. Wishing you joyous memories of your life together.

I just learned of the death of Charlie Faurot. I was so shocked because Charlie was such a great person and he was responsible for all the great releases on
GHP Records between 1970 and 1973. Last time I talked to him on the phone I told him that I really liked his re-issue work on his new label. Charlie was great at what he did for our music.

My deep sympathy to his family.

I was very saddened to hear of Charlie's passing, having just seen him in Galax, VA. I first met Charlie when he came to our house in Wilmington, DE in 1972 to record Ted Lundy and the Southern Mt. Boys for Gerd Hadeler Productions ofGermany. Barbara, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and family. Although there is nothing I can say to ease your pain, I want to share this with you. I have had it so long, I do not know where it originated from.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

The women sailors at Noroton owe much to Charlie. For without his patient and wise coaching, many would not have learned to love the feel of the breeze in their hair and a boat under their feet. Without Charlie, the Women's Sailing Program would have languished. Yet, it continues today and he is sorely missed. We love you Charlie.

I was Mr. Farout's math student and waterpolo player at Montclair Academy. He was an encouraging teacher who helped a struggling student learn Algebra 1 and 2. He took the time to give extra tutoring and told me give it some hard effort and never to quit. Words that have served me well in much harder times. I also was on his water polo team... he was a great coach and responsible for establishing water polo at MA. Good memories of a fine man! - Bruce Pastorini MA '71

In the past few years, I had the privilege to be Charlie's graphic designer, working with him on many album designs for his company, Old Blue Records. Charlie was a pioneer in bringing the surviving practitioners of traditional mountain music to thousands of ears. His influence is immeasurable.

On a professional note, Charlie was one of those rare "dream" clients who expressed a general idea of what he wanted, and then stepped back, giving me the creative freedom and trust to deliver the product. I think he did the same with the musicians he recorded, which yielded some amazing performances.

Personally, we shared a deep passion for the music and would often engage in discussions about musicians and recordings - old and new.

It's still hard to believe that the phone isn't going to ring and I'll answer to hear Charlie's typical greeting, "Hey Dave! Faurot here." Selfishly, I wish we could create a few more CDs together! I'll miss you, Charlie!

As a student at Montclair Academy, I had the good fortune of having this extraordinary man as math teacher and water polo coach. He taught me sportmanship and respect with a quiet patience that I was undeserving of, but then, that's how Charles Faurot did things. What better tribute may I give than to remember him well, and that I do.
