Charles Franklin (Chuck) Midkiff
Charles Franklin (Chuck) Midkiff passed away November 29, 2025, at his home in Montpelier. Born in Charleston, SC. Chuck grew up in Virginia Beach. He graduated magna cum laude from Old Dominion University, and was second in his class at the College of William and Mary School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif.
Chuck served his country in the U.S. Army, JAG Corps. He was a proud Viet Nam veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star.
Chuck was the epitome of a self-made man. In 1987, he founded what is now Midkiff, Muncie & Ross, P.C., serving as President and Chairman of MMR since its inception.
During his distinguished career, Chuck was considered an expert in fields including workers' compensation, accounting, employment, ethics, malpractice, and energy. Additionally, Chuck served as Commissioner on the Governor's Advisory Committee on Workers' Compensation and was a lobbyist for business/insurance interests before the Virginia General Assembly. Chuck earned many honors and awards, including admission into the American College of Workers' Compensation Lawyers, and inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, Virginia Super Lawyers, and Virginia Lawyers Weekly Hall of Fame.
He loved horses, travel, scuba diving, sailing, being with friends and family, his two Great Danes, Bella and Billy, and the "little guy," Bentley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie (Les) Midkiff, Sr., and Virginia Mae DeBord Midkiff, and is survived by his loving sister, Carolyn Strahl (Bruce); nephew, Lance Strahl (Tess); brother, Leslie Midkiff, Jr. (Pat); and his children, Heather Enderle (Thaddeus), Alyssa Camp (Doug), Ericka Lamm, Charles (Chad) Midkiff, Jr. (Riley), Rebecca Midkiff (Anthony LaRocca), and his beautiful granddaughter, Charlotte.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Bliley's Funeral Home (3801 Augusta Ave.) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside service will be Friday, December 19 at Hollywood Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will commence at 2 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 8787 River Road. Reception to follow.
