Charles W. "Pinky" Smith

Smith, Charles W. "Pinky" 84, of Stevensville, Virginia, passed away peacefully October 29, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy J. Smith; mother and father Mr. Horace W. Smith Sr. and Bessie S. Smith; brothers: Horace W. Smith. Jr., Robert N. Smith, Ryland P. Smith; and sister, Linda S. Greenwood. He is survived by his son, Shawn W. Smith; and brother, L. Garland Smith (Barbara). Pinky served in the Army being stationed in Germany; afterwards he went to work in Richmond then New Port News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock. In 1975 he got the job he loved so much becoming the King and Queen County Administrator and Building Inspector. For a short time he was the Zoning Administrator. He treasured his job and doing for the residents of the County until his retirement in 1999. He was a lifelong member of Mizpah United Methodist Church in Walkerton, Virginia, where he served many positions. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time at his place on the Mattaponi River where he said it was Heaven. He also loved cooking, canning tomatoes and having get-togethers on the river feeding friends and family. He loved watching people eat and enjoy themselves which gave him great joy.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 2, 2025, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Aylett Chapel of B.W. White Funeral Home. A graveside service will be November 3, 2025 at 2 p.m., at Bruington Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Mizpah United Methodist Church Grounds Fund, care of Shawn W. Smith Treasure at 11837 The Trail, Stevensville, Virginia 23161.
