Charles Northrup White Jr.

1939 - 2022

WHITE, Charles Northrup, Jr., age 82, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022. Charles was born in New York on June 2, 1939. After graduating from Western Michigan University, Chuck was appointed to the Executive Director of the Fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. Chuck then became the President of the SigEp educational foundation. Chuck secured the gift for the fraternities' new headquarters, Zollinger House, from the family of J. Edward Zollinger. The foundation launched the 55 million campaign for the heart in 1991. Chuck continued his involvement as a life trustee with Sigma Phi Epsilon. Chuck and Susan have attended more than 15 conclaves together. Citation recipient and Zollinger House designer, Tom Allardyce, named the Susan and Chuck White Office in honor of their more than 50 years of dedicated service to SigEp. Chuck also served as Treasurer of the West End Rotary Club foundation and was very active in Crime Stoppers. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Susan Leonard White; daughters, Michelle LoNigro and Laura Brady; grandkids, Julia Bird, Charles and Heather LoNigro; sister and brother, Diane and David White. Chuck was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Caroline LoNigro; his mother and father, Elvina and Charles Northrup White Sr.; and his nephew, Timmy White. Chuck was laid to rest January 27 in a private family service at Westhampton Memorial Park.
