Charles F. Wright

1947 - 2022

WRIGHT, Charles F., passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. His memory is celebrated by his wife, Deborah; daughters, Shannon (Myk) and Carrie (Jason); grandchildren, Lillian, Eva, Cora and June; sister, Judy; and countless extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Buddy.

Charlie was born on October 6, 1947 in Bassett, Va. to parents, Lorena and Wasena Wright. He graduated from Meadowbrook High School and Randolph-Macon College before moving on to a long and illustrious career in finance. Much of his career was spent at SunTrust bank, where he rose to the rank of National Sales Manager. His passion for sales mentorship continued into retirement, where he continued to provide coaching for the next generation of brokers.

However, Charlie would be the first person to tell you that he worked hard so that he could play hard. He spent his life sharing his passions with the people who surrounded him. In the summertime, he was "Beach House Chuck," hosting family and friends and holding court with locals at Ocean Isle Beach. Winter brought out his love for basketball, cheering on the VCU Rams courtside and at home and spending several seasons as a volunteer coach's assistant for Monacan High. Any season was a time for music - classic rock, outlaw country and Motown were a few of his favorites. Charlie was an avid record collector and concert-goer, always delighted to share a great song (and maybe a cold beer). When the weather was right, Charlie

loved to spend the afternoon playing golf at home or at the beach with good friends and family.

Charlie was as kind and generous as they come, eager to share what life had brought to him with others. He was at his heart a family man who would turn any gathering into a celebration - celebrating being together was the only occasion he ever needed. But for all his many passions and accomplishments, Charlie was perhaps most proud of being known as "Grandpa Chuck" and "Baba" - the names his four grandchildren know him by.

Our family would like to extend our gratitude to Spring Arbor Cottages and Crater Hospice for their kind and respectful care of Charlie over the past year.

Charlie's memory lives on in anyone lucky enough to have had him in their lives. He would have you raise a glass to those memories rather than mourn his passing. To that end, a true celebration of Charlie will be held - a party, not a funeral - in the spirit of the life he lived so fully. Come celebrate with our family at Stonehenge Country Club on July 30, 2022 dressed for a joyful remembrance (no jackets/ties and no black clothing please). The celebration will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., with time set at 3 p.m. for family and friends to share memories of Charlie's life.
