Charlie Harrup Obituary

Charlie Goodman "C.G." Harrup Jr., 71, of Capron, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died suddenly October 3, 2004. A lifelong Southampton County farmer and Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a son of the late Charlie Goodman Harrup Sr. and Edna Velvin Harrup. He was a member of Joyner United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of nearly 48 years, Jean Journigan Harrup; a daughter, Debbie H. Dunn and husband, Steve of Capron; two sons, Stephen Harrup and wife, Heike of Fairfax, and Brian Harrup and wife, Rhonda of Capron; a sister, Charlotte Wells of Smithfield; two brothers, John Robert Harrup and wife, Louise of Courtland, and Kurt Harrup and wife, Ann of Lynchburg; and six grandchildren, Kristin Dunn, Andrea Harrup, Cameron Harrup, Chelsea Harrup, Lindsey Harrup and Braxton Harrup. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Joyner Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggest memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. June Cooley, 112 Sunset Dr., Franklin, Va. 23851 or the Capron Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 128, Capron, Va. 23829.

I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT C.G. PASSING AWAY BUT I KNOW FOR SURE THAT HE IS IN HEAVEN WATCHING OVER ALL OF YOU. HE WAS A GREAT MAN AND HE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY. JUST REMEMBER HE LOVED YOU ALL SO MUCH.
