I first met Charlotte sitting in one of her classrooms, and after a couple of hours, I thought to myself: I have finally gotten to that part of my education where things are going to be very interesting. The rest of my coursework didn't really prove this out, but the the excitement that she kindled in me has burned true ever since; because of her I have never worried about digging deep and mining for the conceptual connections that are just waiting to be made. My most heartfelt sympathies to those nearest to her.

It saddened me to learn of Charlotte's passing. She held the highest standards for herself, for learning, and for scholarship...and she encouraged all of us to reach high too. She made a lasting difference in inspiring VCU Libraries towards an exemplary standard of scholarship in collections and service. RIP, Charlotte.
