Cherry White

1951 - 2025

Cherry C. White was born on May 22, 1951, in Richmond, Virginia, the first child of Clara White and Charles Benjamin, who both preceded her in death. She was the eldest of six siblings was reared in a loving household by her Christian grandparents.

Cherry enjoyed learning and was a proud graduate of the Richmond Public School System. Continuing her desire for knowledge, she furthered her studies beyond her high school graduation, always striving to be and do better.

Cherry worked diligently as a Unit Secretary at MCV (Medical College of Virgina) / VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) Medical Center, where she dedicated 43 years of faithful service. She was recognized for her commitment and devotion to the hospital. Cherry truly enjoyed life ---- she loved going to the movies and listing to R&B music. She could sing nearly every song and name the artist with ease.

Cherry was a true Fashion Diva who loved shopping, getting her nails and pedicures done and having her hair styled. Cherry never met a stranger and could effortlessly engage in conversation; she was able to communicate with people from all walks of life. She was kind, caring and compassionate towards family, friends and those she encountered through her work. Her contagious smile often sparked laughter and curiosity – and she could roll them eyes which brought on more smiles and conversation.

To know Cherry was to experience gentleness, generosity, and grace. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to cross her path.

Cherry, also affectionately known as "Miss White," leaves to honor and cherish her memory: her siblings, Anthony Benjamin, Geneva Benjamin, Charlene Benjamin, Angel Benjamin and Mona (Willie) Banks; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; her god-sibling, Norvell Mitchell; childhood friend, Gwen Daniels; and all who will forever hold her memory close.
