CLIFFORD JOSEPH ELLISON
ELLISON, Clifford "Cliff" Joseph, 88, of Midlothian, Va., passed into his heavenly life on January 31, 2013. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 64 years, Eva Thor Ellison; daughter, Sharon E. Tuckwiller (George); sons, Lee D. Ellison (Debbie) and Craig R. Ellison (Nina); nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jo Ann M. Bergwall of Oak Lawn, Illinois. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Cliff moved his family to Richmond in 1964 to continue a 27-year career with Reynolds Metals Co., which included work in sales, sales training, and human resources. He then enjoyed 15 years of development work for Alice Lloyd College, Pippa Passes, Ky. After that, he delighted in serving as a volunteer at Chippenham Hospital, a tour guide at the International Mission Board, and as a consultant for Century Construction Co. The model of a Christian gentleman, he was a very active and faithful member of Bon Air Baptist Church where he held multiple significant leadership roles through the years, including being selected as the first Deacon Emeritus of the church. His loving, caring manner earned him the affectionate title "The Bishop of Bon Air Baptist." His warm sincerity, gracious spirit, wisdom, kindness, and delightful sense of humor endeared him to his family, his co-workers and countless friends. During WWII, he flew 35 missions as a B-24 pilot in the Army Air Corps. A celebration of his life will be held at Bon Air Baptist Church, 2531 Buford Road, Friday, February 8 at 1:30 p.m., with a visitation/reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Alice Lloyd College Scholarship Fund, Purpose Road, Pippa Passes, Ky. 41844, or the Youth Ministry of Bon Air Baptist Church.

Mr. Ellison, I cherish the memories of your smile, encouraging words and life lessons at church. I appreciate your sharing so much of your time with the youth group, having us in your home, and all that you and Mrs. Ellison did for us. You were a giving, loving, truly Christian man, who I will always be grateful to have known. Love and prayers of comfort to all the Ellisons, family, friends and all of us that grieve and miss you. We will see you one day beyond that golden shore, where there will be no more pain, suffering, discouragement, or anything that is not of our Saviour- pure Love, Peace and Joyful Happiness.

Vi beklagar förlusten av din make Cliff. Han var en underbar människa som vi båda är glada att vi har haft förmånen att känna.

Dear Eva,
What a privelege it was for me to get to know you both. I am so sorry for your loss. Clifford was a wonderful person and is now a phenomenal angel in Heaven. I always appreciated his sense of humor, his caring listening and enjoyed our time watching the service at First Baptist Church on Sunday morning. I will truly miss him and I send my love to you.

Dear Eva,
I know you will miss your beloved Cliff. What a gentleman, godly, loving example to us all! What an example your marriage was for so many. Words can never express what Cliff meant to each of us whose lives he touched. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know we will see him again in glory. He was a good and faithful servant.

Love and Blessings,

Oh dear Cliff ... always Mr. Ellison to me, but you were so important to me as a teenager. You were vital to all I knew and understood spiritually. We joked about the "love in the Swedish kitchen" but that love was real. You will be sorely missed. Of course now that you are with our Lord, you know what an influence you were on so many people. God bless you, Cliff, and thank you for your kindness, your love, and your service to your fellow man, your church, and your God. I will never forget you.
