To the Farthing Family:

I worked with Dave for three years from 1995 to 1998 at Verizon. Dave was the embodiment of integrity and honesty. He kept us focused on the things that are important in life. I feel fortunate to have known and worked with him. My thoughts and heart go out to you in this time of great sadness.

Working at the same company for many years, Dave's path and mine crossed many times. Having children in the same school gave us another commonality and I'll never forget the light that would shine from his eyes when he talked about all of his children with love and pride. He was, without a doubt, one of the nicest people I ever met.

I loved to make Dave laugh. Once he was interviewing me for a job as Project Manager. It was sounding really good until he mentioned with all seriousness that I'd have to wear a pager even in the shower. We stared at each other for several seconds and then both burst into gales of laughter, shook hands and parted. Ever after when I saw him, Dave would ask if I had gotten my water-proof pager yet.

He was a kind man and a true gentleman who will be truly missed by one and all. My deepest condolences to his entire family.

To the Farthing family,

We are so saddened about your loss. I can recall so many memories of Mr. Farthing, being a friend of Jennifer's. His youthfulness around his grandchildren is inspiring. May he rest in peace and may you all continue his legacy. Love, Angie and Buck Calhoun
