Dolores Mary Rittmann

RITTMANN, Dolores Mary, 98, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on April 14, 2023. Lori was born on August 5, 1924 in Lambertville, N.J., to John M. Casey Sr. and Angeline Russo Casey. She graduated from Lambertville High School in 1941. She met the love of her life, Gottlieb William Rittmann, on New Year's Eve 1945. They were married at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on September 28, 1946. They raised four children in Levittown and Moylan, Pa., until Bill's work brought them to Richmond, Va. in 1980 for the rest of their 61-year marriage.

Dolores was beautiful, strong, brilliant, modest, compassionate, eloquent, witty and fun. She could light up a room with her sweet, beautiful smile, but most of all, she devoted her life to loving and nurturing her family. She was Mom, Mama, Grandmom and Ranny. She raised generations of children and grandchildren who were shaped by her unwavering love, strength and support. She and Bill created a loving, close-knit family that continues to grow and bask in their love.

Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; their infant son, Billy; and her siblings, John Casey Jr., Mary Schmook, Gale Casey, Michael Casey and Florence Casey. She is survived by four children, Christine Mitchell Compton and her husband, Tom, Barry Rittmann Sr. and his wife, Deborah, Faye Rittmann, and Theresa Rittmann Jackson and her husband, Ken; eleven grandchildren, Forrest Rittmann, Barry Rittmann Jr., Glory Rittmann, Molly Bailey, Andrea Coloff, Kenneth Jackson, Laura Stinger, David Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Christopher Jackson and Benjamin Jackson; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023 at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Drive. A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2023 in St. Mary's Cemetery in Trenton, New Jersey.
