My sympathy and prayers go out to the family.

I was one of the first managers to work for Mr. Zimmerman in the Inspector General's Office at the VDOC headquarters in Richmond. Mr. Zimmerman was a man of impeccable character and of integrity. Mr. Z and I visited the FBI National Fingerprint Identification Division in Washington, D.C. on business. After our visit, he took me on a tour of the ATF headquarters and pointed out a small clock which he had built and left at the office. He also introduced me to several high ranking officials at ATF. After our visit at AFT headquarters, he took me to a restaurant in Washington where he said he ate several times a week when he was assigned in Washington and bought my lunch there. Mr. Zimmerman was a great supervisor and difinitely will be missed by all who knes him and who worked for him.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

While I have great saddness because Don is no longer with us here on earth, I take comfort to know he is in a far better place, joined once again with his beloved Loretta. I always enjoyed my association with Don during our years together in ATF & he was a good manager.

Mr. Zimmerman, or "Mr. Z",as he was so graciously called by his subordinate Agents in the Special Investigations Unit, was the first Inspector General for the Virginia Department of Corrections and a great mentor and supervisor. It was a sad day here in the unit the day when Mr. Z retired, but it is a very sad occasion to hear about his untimely departure from this life. I wish the Zimmerman family well and know that your father, my former boss who hired me, will be truly missed by us all.
