Earl Call Obituary

CALL Earl Fulton Call, 84, of Powhatan, Va., went to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 29, 2006. He was the son of the late Joseph Call and Jacie Moss Call Shumaker. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ola Osborne Call; three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Faye Call and Sharon and Donald Laslie, all of Powhatan, Va.; one brother, Alvin Call (Geraldine); three stepgranddaughters, Pamela Halchishick (Jamie), Karen Shawwa (Jalal), Elizabeth Paulis (Scott); four step great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Eula Lucy (Calvin), and Robbie Dimmett; one brother-in-law, Herbert Lann; many nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Brucie East. Mr. Call is also survived by a very special granddog, "Bensley", who loved her Pawpaw very much. Mr. Call served his country in the Army during World War II. He was employed with The Liggitt & Meyers Tobacco Co. for 29½years, and retired from St. Mary's Hospital after 16 years. He was a member of Webber Memorial Baptist Church since 1958. Mr. Call loved working in his yard and vegetable garden, and was known by some as the "Mater-Man". He will be greatly missed. Flowers are welcome, or contributions in his memory may be made to the Building Fund at Webber Memorial Baptist Church, 7800 Salem Church Rd., Richmond, Va. 23237. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where funeral services will be held 12 noon Wednesday. Interment Sunset Memorial Park.
