Mother Heflin lived her life for the Glory of God. Her life was spent doing the work of God. She was never too tired, it was never too far, and she always heard from God right on time. She would say, "OPEN UP TO HIM". She knew what it was to submit to God at all times. May God Bless her family in the natural and in the Spirit.

In 1971, I first met Sister Heflin. On my birthday she prayed for me for the first time, to give me a special word from the Lord. It was a very long and detailed word. What the Lord showed her has carried me all through my life.

Once she was involved in a car accident and I nursed her through her difficulties. She gave me an offeing whch was my ticket to my next mission trip for Jesus.

I would go to her house every spring to work in her garden and plant the flowers. She and I both loved flowers and she appreciated that Susan, Don Chagnon and I used to go out and dig day lillies out of the ditches alongside the railroad tracks to replant on camp.

She would always say, would someone take care ...of this or that.., and all the while she would look at me. She could always count on me that the kitchen and dinning room floors were scrubbed at 2am everyday.

Many times in Israel, we prayed that 'father of faith' would come and teach and encourage us. No 'fathers' came but Sister Heflin would hear from the Lord and she would come to encourage us and lift us.

Sister Helin was a team with her husband, old Brother Heflin. The two of them shaped my faith life and pored into my spirit all the sustaining foundational teachings which formed my ministry.

Many times she recounted the story in which she and Susan went to Hunza, as she wanted to find out why the people of Hunza were so long-lived. Her deduction was, it was the grace and mercy of God.

I was in the church the night the infamous streaker streaked in. All the men of the church were in N.C. setting up the tent. Sister Viola and Sister Patti instructed all the young girls to keep praying. The man reached up and grabbed Sister Heflin's knees. She just opened her eyes for a second and layed her hands on his head and prayed in the mercy and compassion of Christ. After the prayer, he rushed out. It was so like her to meet every situation believing for healing and deliverance for the person's soul.

Sister Heflin was a great lady of the Kingdom of God. I thank God I was previledged to know her.

Mother Heflin took hold of my hand after services at the campground one night. I'll never forget it. She carried the presence of God with her.

How our hearts sing with His love, joy, peace and anointing of the Holy Spirit that was imparted and lived through the life and ministry of Sister Edith Ward Heflin!
She has passed from this life into Glory to see her Saviour and those gone on before her.
The rapture must be on the way.
Roy and myself are thankful to our Lord for her loving ministry into us over the years. Alleluia!
May the blessings and comforting strength of His Spirit touch all of us for the glorious days ahead.
Thanks be to God for a woman of faith, miracles and truly leading by example. Praise God as we always remember and apply her teaching in our lives. We can but rejoice as earth was enriched by her life!

Grandma was the GREATEST Woman that ever lived. We all will miss her Sweet SMILE. And her words of encouragement. If we all do just a part of what this woman did for God-Heaven will not be empty. Live your life to the Fullest as she did. Live for Jesus. And be READY when Jesus comes to call YOU-HOME with HIM. We will live the Memories that we all have of her. But most of ALL-HER LOVE FOR EVERYONE. HER LOVE FOR LOST SOULS. AND A DESIRE TO SEE EVERYONE MAKE HEAVEN THEIR HOME.GOD BLESS MY GRANDMA.

I WILL LOVE HER FOREVER. She gave me All her Life. And taught me the "RIGHT WAY TO LIVE." I have HER MANTLE-AND WILL CARRY IT HIGH SO THAT THE WORLD WILL KNOW THAT SHE STILL LIVES ON IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS.HER REWARD WILL BE SO GREAT.

HER MANSION WILL BE HUGE. I thank God everyday that I had HER for My Grandma. She was a Mother-Grandmother and My PASTOR.

The World has lost a GREAT WOMAN.

HEAVEN HAS RECIEVED ANOTHER ANGEL.

WHAT A REUNION THIS WOMAN HAD ON THAT DAY THAT SHE ENTERED HEAVEN.

I look forward to seeing her again

Always Remember: GOD KEEPS GOOD RECORDS.

I LOVE YOU GRANDMA. FOREVER.

Sister Heflin was always ready to pray and believe for a miracle. Never was she unready to listen, to help, to believe. Once I had a terrible headache, she was coming down the side aisle, a little late for Sunday School, I grabbed her as she passed and said I had a head ache, she simple turned, layed her hand on my head, and said, Jesus, and hurried on. I was healed. The simplicity of her faith was the great sustaining factor of CPT for all the years that she ministered.

The care and love that she had for the congregation was returned by them all, if she called for cakes for a birthday party, every lady brought one. I remember 50-70 cakes of every variety and flavor. The people loved her, she was a 'Miriam' to them leading them in worship and in life.

In summer camp, she would pass out dimes to the little children who had no money, so they could buy a Coke. One summer, the Pamonkie Indian children arrived with very few clothes. I remember how she got them all into dresses, underpants, shoes and socks; and when they went home they had been given their school clothes.

Who can forget the summer teachings of Revelation and of Daniel?

Who could ever forget the sustained word of prophesy and knowledge that pored out from her with ease and grace?

She willingly took many responsibilities. She raised her 'peanuts'. She tithed to Ruth all her life to help her on the mission field. Her table was always set for any visitor. She lived to serve. A telephone in the night, a prayer in the hospital, when did she ever rest?

She loved the Holy Land and came so often that she feared that she had seen everything there was to see. She loved traveling with her boy, and he with her, they were quite a pair.

When she was just a young girl she eloped one Sunday afternoon, between morning service and evening service to marry her Wallace; he was the love of her life and she never regretted it. Together they lived a Life of faith and set by example that Life before us all.

I will always love her.

Wow!!! Such memories just reading some of these entries.

It is hard to believe she is no longer here with us. I think I have always believed she would be one of the ones who would outlive us all.

I remember how she loved the children and being that I worked in that ministry during my many years at camp,(first every summer and then after graduation), I saw her often in the "little Tabernacle". I remember how she wanted the kids to stay in service even if they fell asleep, so they would still be in God's presence. I still can see her clapping her hands & smiling as the offering was taken up and singing along with all the youth..."Dropping, dropping, dropping, dropping see those ____ fall, give them all to Jesus, he must have them all.!" I think that was one of her favorite songs. She also loved telling us stories of the tent revivals and Azusa street. I can see her in heaven with all the rest of the Calvary family, singing and ministering. Heaven is certainly blessed with her presence.

I will really miss her giving me a pat now & then and asking me if I have been good. She had the sweetest (& sometimes mischievous) smile and it always warmed your heart when you saw her.

I'll always consider Camp the foundation of my spiritual walk.

God Bless y'all.

Greetings!

I will never forget the way Mother Heflin's eyes sparkled as she asked me,"have you been a good boy today?" Nor will I forget the first time she laid her hands on me in the summer of 1975 and spoke the word of the Lord to me saying: "Yeah I have called thee long ago...".

Those words have echoed in my heart throughout my life and ministry. Mother Heflin was truly a godly mother and saint to all of us and we will miss her dearly. We eagerly wait to see her again!

Lovingly,

Mother Heflin has left a legacy not only in Ashland, but among the nations.

She was a giant among women, destined for greatness and her prophetic word and life example have been a singular inspiration in my life. I will never forget the day I went to her with a list of nine questions about ministry, and in the course of answering the first question she had summarily answered them all!

Mother Heflin was my pastor and she spoke into my life with the gifts of The Word of Knowledge and The Word of Wisdom as an Oracle of God.

I came to the camp ground in Ashland after visiting the Richmond church in 1978. Later I would marry into a family that had known the Heflin's since 1965 and my wife's parents had pastored two of the CPT satellite churches established by Mother Heflin and her husband Wallace Sr. My wife Susan, who ran around the camp ground as a five year old little girl, would follow with me in the deeper calling of God and we have had the privelege of living on the campgrounds for three years.

During that time I would stand in awe during the afternoon meetings to watch the grace of God flow thru this anointed hand maiden of God as she prophesied, hours on end, to literally hundreds and thousands of people over the years. Never have I known anyone so humble with such a record of 100% accuracy. She spoke plainly with love to everyone and always responded where there was a need. She shose to live her life in a humble dwelling with a 24 hour phone ministry to comfort and pray for all in need at any time.

All of her life she lived by faith. I remember that it was Mother Heflin who insisted that the camp meetings, meals and accomodations always remain free for those who would come to seek and worship God. Her prophetic gift was paralleled by her tremendous grace of mercy and she will be dearly missed by all who have known her.

In 1986 Mother called me within hours after I had sought God about my calling and informed me that I was to be presented, along with my wife Susan, to the congregation of The Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle of Falmouth as pastoral candidates. That one call directed me at such a critical hour, surely this woman heard from God! The church unanimously received us and we have continued pastoring to this day.

It was under her ministry and guidance that my wife and I heard God calling us to the mission field and today we have visited and sown seed among twenty five nations. I remember when travelling to the interior of India in 1989 and being told, "You are only the second white people to ever visit our part of the country," and when I asked who had been there before us I was told, "Why, the Heflin's came here in 1965!"

It has been a joy to know every member of the Heflin family and an honor to have been ordained under the hand of Reverend Mother Heflin, Dr. William A. Ward, Rev. Ruth Heflin, and Rev. Wallace Heflin Jr..

Her light in life spanned four generatios and with the home going of this great saint a generation of greatness has passed. Only eternity will tell the tale of the multiplied thousands of lives genuinely changed by the ministry of this great woman of God. Surely she was a mother to many!

Due to being overseas when the Lord Jesus called Mother into His Glory I was unable to attend her home going celebration. So with these brief words I wish to express that my love and prayers go out to all of her family, here, at the Camp ground, in the Richmond church and to those scattered among the nations. May we all live worthy of the rich heritage she has invested through her life into ours.

We came in contact with CPT Campground and the ministry of the Heflin family in 1981 while on vacation and to appease my in-laws who continually asked us to go to the Summer Camp Meeting in Ashland, VA. I finally broke down and took the family there. I was a Pastor at the time and not accustomed to the type worship we saw and experienced (dancing before the Lord in true freedom instead of waiting for the Holy Ghost to come down and shake it out of us). It had such an impact on our lives and totally changed my ministry and the way we looked at and interpreted the Bible and our personal relationships with God. We will be eternally grateful for all we learned from them and for the years spent living and working at the CPT Missionary training center there in Ashland. Mother Heflin was such a loving, trustful and insightful individual who touched thousands of lives through the years. She will be greatly missed. Truly our loss is Heaven's gain. We know she is reunited with her husband and children and other family members, her brother Dr. Ward and all we're sure rejoiced and danced about at her homecoming in Paradise. Our love and prayers to the Family and to the Ministry that would not exist if the Heflins had not been obedient to the call of God upon their lives. Some of the most precious and fruitful times we had while living at camp were when Mother Heflin rode to the Hull Street CPT Church for services whenever Bro. Heflin was out of town. She would share with us of the early beginnings of the Campground and the many miracles she had experienced. Our son James was very young at that time but he was so thrilled by her relating those stories to us, some of them over and over again. But they never grew old to us. Our daughter Michelle was so influenced by Mother Heflin to become a full-time Missionary and gave up her full college scholarship in order to answer God's call upon her life. She has never regretted doing so, and is still today doing a great work for God. Time nor space do not permit us to say all the wonderful things we would like to say about Mother Heflin, but we are forever grateful and daily thank God that we were privileged to meet her and their ministry. Love and blessings from Bro. & Sis. Akers.

Sis. Heflin impacted my Christian upbringing by her faithfullness in teaching me Bible School every summer. I recall her words "let's sit up straight and tall and say the names of the books of the Bible." I can remember the smell of her perfume as she would walk by teaching us about Jesus in the dusty small tabernacle. She still impacts me today in remembering her Godly, gentle, and selfless life. Good-bye Sis. Heflin.

Dear Family & churches,

There are times in life when words fail to really say all that needs to be said. Such is the case for Mother Heflin. Her dedication to God and her life and ministry speak for themselves. She was a great teacher to many laborers in the Kingdom. Her ministry will live on through those who she ministered to. To live is Christ to Die is gain .

Love and prayers, His & yours

I will forever be indebted to the Heflins for the positive impact they have had on my life and ministry. I am confident of this one thing, heaven's gain is earth's loss. I can't think of another family that has made a greater contribution to the nations than this humble family of faith filled believers. I am believing God for greater things of their children & grandchildren. Mother, the warfare is ended and the rewards are great!

Well, we will always love you! From the Books of the Bible to a chapter memorized every summer to, "Don't put your shoes where you've been putting them," we will certainly miss you. We're learning to "Let Go," and why your favorite secular song (Don't Fence me In)was so well chosen. We also learned to be selfless enough to send the angels into someone else's room so they can enjoy them too! Thanks for all the memories, the well taught lessons, and the love.

Mother Heflin was a great Christian example to all. Her very presence emminated graciousness as well as holiness. She taught us to believe for miracles in our everyday lives. She ministered to adults and children with the same passion for God, realizing the value of a soul. May we all never forget the many lessons learned from her teachings as well as her daily life.

Dear Heflin Family,

I was not privileged to know Sister Edith when she was well and ministering. I only know of her Ministry by stories, her book, Ruth's books, tapes, videos... However, I was very privileged to go, on several occasions, and sit with her. She, in that short time, imparted things into my life that will never be forgotten. Not long after I began sitting w/her, a whole new realm of faith was suddenly opened up to me!!! I will miss her, but, am now really looking forward to "sitting w/her" in Glory; where she will not be sick. I am looking forward to hearing her tell all her stories, then!!!! I'll sit and listen just as long as she will talk!!!!! Rick and I would like to offer you our condolences, thoughts, and prayers. She was a wonderful lady!!!! Lynn Ronquest

What is there to say but to love the loved. I had a chance once to 'take' care of her. It was a wonderful experience. To see the love surrounded by her. It was joy that was given, and it won't be taken away. What a joy it will be to see her again. Thanks for the Experience!

Best Regards,

I went to camp many summers with my family. I loved the atmosphere but most importantly remember Mother Hefiln teaching us kids about God. She never watered it down but gave the truth straight forward. She never wanted one soul to perish. We would always enter the old tabernacle singing Onward Christian Soldier. What a true song for a Christian to sing and remember. To God be the glory great things He has done through His daughter. Those seeds were sown on fertile ground and today I still love Jesus with all my heart.

I have known the Heflin family since 1965. Each member of the family has been an inspiration to my life. Because of their mission mindedness I had the privilege of living in Israel with Ruth Helfin. Bro and Sister Heflin, Sonny and Ruth will always have a place in my heart. Sister Heflin had the most impact on my life because of her inspired insight into the Word of God. The world has truly lost a wonderful lady and great prayer warrior for the Lord. I pray that all who have known these great individuals and especially Sister Edith Ward Heflin will never allow themselves to be swayed in their heavenly destination.
