Edward Bryan Obituary

Edward Blay Bryan, age 59, of Kennedyville, Maryland, died on Friday, August 29, 2003 as the result of an automobile accident on Shallcross Wharf Road near Kennedyville. He was the son of Robert Leon and Elizabeth Westcott Bryan of Kennedyville, Maryland. Blay is survived by two daughters, Julia Benfield Bryan of Chicago, Illinois and Rachel Blay Bryan of Montpelier, Virginia; and he is also survived by a brother, Robert L. Bryan Jr. of Kennedyville, Maryland; a sister, Elizabeth Scott Bryan of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was the husband of Martha Rasin of Annapolis, Maryland. Blay was born in Wilmington, Delaware and reared in Seaford, Delaware and Kinston, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Randolph-Macon Military Academy in Front Royal, Virginia; Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia; and T.C. Williams Law School of the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. As a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War (1971 to 72), he was a awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Mr. Bryan practiced law in the Richmond, Virginia area from 1971 to 1999. After his retirement, he moved to Marsh Point Farm near Kennedyville, which has been in his family since 1678. He was an active member of Shrewsbury Parish Church and volunteered with local organizations including KART. An avid hunter, fisherman and golfer, he enjoyed the Sassafras River with his Chesapeake Bay retriever, Nick. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Shrewsbury Parish Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 187, Kennedyville, Maryland 21645 or Kent Association Riding Therapy, P.O. Box 126, Worton, Maryland 21678 would be appreciated.
