Edward Neville DeFreitas

Edward Neville DeFreitas, age 91, went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2006. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Vera DeFreitas; and his children, Edward DeFreitas and his wife, Patricia, Paul DeFreitas and his wife, Debra, Wayne DeFreitas and his wife, Leigh, and Emilie Harlow and her husband, Ron; and five grandchildren, Scott, David and Elizabeth DeFreitas, and Davis and Kirby Harlow. Neville was a devoted family man and a committed Christian. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, after which he earned his B.A. and M.B.A. from George Washington University. In 1971, he retired from the Federal government after 31 years of dedicated service, having worked for several departments including the U.S. Air Force, where he was director of worldwide central accounting operations. After retiring, he enjoyed a second career as a prize-winning photographer. On Thursday, April 20, the family will receive friends between 3 and 7 p.m at the DeFreitas home at 1209 Giltspur Rd. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at West End Assembly of God, 401 N. Parham Rd. Private interment to follow at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
