Edward Henry Obituary

HENRY Dr. Edward Page Henry Jr., 80, a lifelong resident of Hopewell, died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond. He was a graduate of East Carolina University and Medical College of Virginia Dental School, a WWII veteran of the U. S. Army, served on the City Council of Hopewell, and was vice-mayor of Hopewell in 1962. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, V.F.W. of Hopewell, member and Past Master of the Dupont Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., Southside Dental Society, Virginia Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He practiced dentistry in the city of Hopewell for 53 years, with his son, Bill joining the practice in later years. Dr. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Edward P. Sr. and Sadie Glascock Henry; his wife, Lucille Cleveland Henry; and two brothers, Robert B. Henry and Ray C. Henry. Survivors include his wife, Marion Smith Henry, three children, Edward P. Henry III and wife, Ann, Dr. William C. Henry and wife, Anne Page, Diane Henry Parr and husband, Donald, all of Hopewell; stepchildren, Dr. David B. Mika and wife, Dr. Katherine Mika, of Charlottesville, Kenneth C. Taylor of Charlottesville, Nanel T. Warren and husband, Jerry, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Wayne K. Taylor and wife, Debbie, of Prince George, Va., Malora T. Carpenter and husband, Steve, of Madison County, Va., and A. Corwin Taylor and wife, Susan, of Chesterfield, Va. Dr. Henry is also survived by five grandchildren, Edward P. Henry IV, Megan P. Henry, Melissa A. Henry, Allison L. Henry, and Taylor C. Parr; 17 stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 10, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Hopewell, with the Rev. O. H. Burton, pastor, officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in the Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 502 West Broadway, Hopewell, Va. 23860.
