Elizabeth Bowen Obituary
December 11, 1930 - November 9, 2025
Elizabeth Catherine Matthews Bowen, 94, of Gum Spring, VA passed away peacefully in Sunday, on Nov. 9, 2025.
Elizabeth, originally from Vance County, NC, was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clinton W. Bowen, siblings and niece.
A beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma "MiMa", great grandma, aunt "Uba" and friend, Elizabeth built her life on love, strength, service and quiet grace. She devoted herself to her family and her home, creating a place where everyone felt welcomed. She was known throughout her family for her chocolate pie and took great joy and pride in fulfilling those requests. Her gentle humor, funny sayings and warm heart were the foundations of so many treasured memories.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Ronnie (Darlene), Cathy (Bill) and Rick (Lisa); cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren (with one on the way) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Elizabeth loved her family and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will live on through each of them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Elizabeth's family will celebrate her life on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 where they will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and funeral ceremony will begin at 12 p.m., at Bliley's - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover, VA 23069.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
