Elizabeth DiMarino Obituary

Elizabeth Ashley DiMarino, age 10, of Newport News, Va., died on May 6, 2006. Not given much time on this earth, she nonetheless embraced life to the fullest. She loved the outdoors and was more comfortable in a bathing suit or cut off shorts than anything else. Going to the river on boating trips with her family was where you could find her on most summer weekends. She is survived by her parents, Cindy L. DiMarino of Newport News, and Nicholas J. DiMarino of Chester, Va.; one loving sister, Alyssa MacKenzie DiMarino of Newport News; and many loving great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, May 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., at New Covenant Church, Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Va. A funeral service will be held in her honor on Friday, May 12, Abingdon, Va. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Elizabeth's honor to the American Cancer Society or to the Boys and Girls Club of the Virginia Peninsula, Newport News. The family is being served by the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.

To the DiMarino Family,

We want to express our deepest sorrow in the lost your precious Elizabeth in such a tragic event. While we didn't know her, we are sure she was a delightful young girl and was a joy to be with. We share your grief, having lost our daughter, Kattie, then 21, in a tragic car accident. Please know that you are not alone and that Elizabeth is among the angels and knows first hand God's love and joy. May His grace give you peace and courage to go on. Elizabeth would have wanted you to enjoy all that life has to offer.

Nick, Cindy, and Alyssa. I am so sorry you have lost your precious Ashley. She was a true blessing. I will always hold Ashley close to my heart, and I will NEVER forget that beautiful smile. Miss and I were crushed to hear of the news, after returning to the country. I would have caught the next plane home if I had heard in time. Please forgive us for not being there. Please try and stay strong for each other. Ya'll will be in my daily prayers. God bless. With much love, Mark,Missy, and Mackenzie (cousins)

Cindy,

Our hearts are with you and your family as you endure one of life's most difficult moments. We know Ashley is with the One that loves her more than we could ever imagine, but that doesn't make life here and now any less painful or difficult. Please know how much we admire you and pray that at some place and time in your life comfort will come. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Cindy,

My old friend. I am so sorry to hear about Ashley. I want you to know that you are in my thoughts & prayers. There are no words to express the grief I know you must be feeling. The last time I saw Ashely she was about three and we were all at Lake Gaston, she was so excited to go out on the water, even at that age. She was just like her Mama in that respect. Cindy, I don't know how you will make it through this, except I know you are made of strong, respectable, and loving stuff. Let your family help you. God knows what you want and what you need. Pray and look to him for guidance and comfort. I am praying for you, Nick,Alyssa and both of your families.

Love,

Kim Mayo Eubanks

To Cindy, Nick, and Alyssa:

DiMarino means "of the sea". Ashley certainly lived up to her name! She knew what she loved and water was certainly it . . . from the vast expanses of the ocean to a bucket filled with a hose, she derived much joy.

Ashley not only brought joy to everyone she met, but she taught us so much too. She lived life to its very fullest with reckless abandonment, living totally in the moment. No worries. No wonder she was so full of life!

Ashley also taught us about overcoming and hard work; about not putting limitations on ourselves, imposed by what others may think or knowledge they may have. What an example one 10-year old girl set for all who knew her!

Before you know it, there will be a great heavenly reunion, and we will all be together again. Keep the faith. Love and support one another. My heart is broken with yours. I will always be here for you, and the memory of Ashley will live on forever.

Ashley's passing was certainly our loss and heaven's gain. Ashley is now bringing her own special brand of joy in heaven!

All my love,

Joanie

Ashley (cindy, please show her),

Im sure you're arent very sure what to think, but just like every other little child, she is with Jesus. Don't miss her. Its not a total goodbye. I love you and miss you!

Cindy,

You are as always in my prayers. Im sure you aren't sure what to think either or to belive how God could do this. But, just think how much it hurt God to see his daughter live like that. She is perfect now and she is truly in pure joy. God will be with you and her father. Do not lose hope ever. Have you ever heard the song by Casting Crowns called "Praise You in This Storm"? If you get a chance, listen to it and praise God for all His blessings. He loves you and Alyssa and holds you both in His hands. I love you and see you when you come back..

Cindy,

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your precious daughter. Even though her time here on earth was short, she made an impact on others that will endure. Losing a child is the most difficult pain you will ever experience . . . rememeber God is still in control and He knows what is best. Even though we can not understand why, we can rely on our God to provide assurance that He will see us through this deep valley and joy will come in the morning. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your extended family.

To: The DiMarino Family

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Cindy, we were so saddened to learn of your loss. I never had the honor of meeting this "Precious Angel", but through Malik, my son, I gather that she was very special to him at The Peninsula Boys and Girls Club. He will always remember her, dearly . He would never forget how she would hum a favorite gospel tune that she learned from Ms. Rhetta, and how he lastly assisted her with her homework and how she bidded him good-bye, that Friday evening. God will lead you through this bereavement. Our Prayers are with you.

While I did not know Ashley very well, I certainly know her family. I know that at no point in her short life did she ever have to wonder if she was deeply, deeply loved. A blessing no doubt for any child, and the child's presense, a blessing in return. May God see you through this terribly dark hour and may God rest her beautiful young soul.

Ashley was a beautiful child who endured pain with an unending smile. I know that your parents, sister, grandparents, aunts (especially Aunt Kathy), and cousins will miss the enormous joy and tremendous happiness that you brought to them. After all that you went through, it is difficult to understand why this has happened. God now has a perfect, little angel with him.
