June 28, 1936 - October 22, 2025
Eugene Arthur Sledge, Jr. 89 of Richmond, Va., passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 with his wife Linda Sledge and family by his side.Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St. where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 1501 Decatur St. Interment Maury Cemetery. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Eugene Sledge. May you feel comforted by the beautiul memories you shared. When I served as a young teacher at Gerorge Mason Elementary School, Mr Sledge was the Assistant Principal. He was a caring, kind and humble supervisor who was steadfast in his duties. His quiet confidence in my ability to develop as a an excellent teacher was deeply appreciated. In the many years he served, I never ever witnessed him raising his voice to anyone. He was a gentle man. His sweet smile, pleasant and professional demeanor will be remembered by the many he served.. Rest in eternal peace, dear Sir. Job well done! You will be dearly missed.
