Evalane Slaughter Obituary

Evalane Green Slaughter

Our loving mother, Evalane Green Slaughter, 86, of Henrico, passed away on March 10, 2025, from metastatic breast cancer. She is survived by her son, David Edward Slaughter, daughter, Claire Slaughter Ballard (Greg), and grandsons, Adam and William Ballard. Evalane was a proud alum of Westhampton College (class of 1960, Phi Beta Kappa) and Drexel University (1964, Master of Library Science). In between raising her children, she worked for the Richmond Public Library, retiring in 1994. Evalane enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and Richmond Spiders football and basketball games. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church and a generous supporter of many causes and local institutions. Evalane was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William Parry Slaughter. In lieu of flowers or donations, continue to remember Evalane as a wonderful mother, wife, and friend. The family plans to hold a private service.

David and Claire, how very sorry I was to learn of your mother's passing. She was such a beautiful person; kind, friendly and just all around lovely. I know how much she was devoted to her family and I truly admired her for that. Please accept my sincere heartfelt sympathy. God bless you.
