I was so saddened to hear that Frank has passed away. He was such a good person with an even bigger heart. I have very fond memories of our teenage years and the way he could make me smile, no matter what the circumstances. He will always hold a special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. May God bless you and keep you in His care today and always.

To the Dark Family and Vernay,
Frank's passing should put all of our lives on pause. It is hard to put into words the sadness and grief I feel right now. Just like he was the baby brother to his family, he was a big brother to me. In 1991, I was in Richmond to help break up my mother's home and put her into a nursing home before she passed. I decided to substitute teach before moving to D.C and had an assignment at Armstrong where Frank met me at the door. His last words to me was "If you have any problems out of the kids or otherwise, come to me." That's the kind of love, protection, and security I've always gotten and felt from him. I never thought that it would be our last embrace; and I will mourn his passing from afar as well as my sister, Belinda, who called me with the news that can travel so quickly. My condolences to you all is to find strength in the memory of his wonderful smile and those beautiful teeth that would remind anybody of pearls. He meant so much to the Lewis Family as he did to his own. And we thank the Creator for his love and time shared among us all on this earth. I can only imagine the reunion of family and friends who he touched so profoundly.
Sincerely,
on behalf of Belinda and Sherman Jr.

To the Dark Family,
We are sorry to hear about the sudden death of Frank. Although we saw Frank rarely we will miss him. We all grew up together in Washington Park and that makes us family. Just know that we may not live close by now but we think of you all frequently. Know also that God is good and Frank is blessed to see him face to face. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We love you and will remember you always in our prayers.

To Vernay and my family
at times like these we come together to remember what Bigma instilled in all of us. We are family and now that we have lost another one of the 1st, the generations continue to build and be strong. We were taught and know that to be absent on earth is to be present with the Lord. Frank has now gone home with BigMa, daddy ("Shack"),Belle, Ball, grand dad and the other grand and great grands that have out run us, his race has been run. Our lives our not the bith and homegoing dates, but what is between the dashes. Academics, sports, strength, leadership and that smile will be his legacy. Frank has given and taught all of us much. We are here for a short time and his time has touched so many of us. To each of you continue to look to the hills, for we all know where our strength comes from. He is now safe in the arms of Jesus, The Father and his earthly parents, siblings and friends. Love
