Fred Birdsong Obituary

Fred B. Birdsong, 89, of Roswell, formerly of Wintergreen, Va. and Greensboro, N.C., died December 15, 2004. He was a 1934 graduate of Auburn University. He retired in 1979 as vice president of R&D from Blue Bell, Inc. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Birdsong was preceded in death by his sons, Fred Birdsong Jr. and Philip Andrew Birdsong; and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Lou Whiteman Birdsong; daughter, Sally McDaniel of Woodstock, Ga.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Greensboro, N.C., Monday, December 20, 2004 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wintergreen Nature Foundation, P.O. Box 468, Nellysford, Va. 22958.
