Frederick Doggett Obituary

Frederick E. Doggett Sr., 79 years old, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 27, 2003 after a lengthy illness. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 58 years, Anne Houchins Doggett; sons, William Jeffrey Doggett and Frederick (Rick) Doggett Jr. and his wife, Diane Doggett; daughters, Fredericka D. Pendergraph and Rebecca D. Bray and her husband, Donald Bray; grandchildren, Vince Pendergraph, Patrick Doggett, Donald Bray Jr., Joshua Doggett and Rachel Doggett; one great-grandson, Ethan Pendergraph. Mr. Doggett retired from American Tobacco Company after 32 years as a Systems Analyst and was a member of the Data Processing Managers Association for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Doggett attended Randolph-Macon College and was a graduate of Richmond Business College. Mr. Doggett was a life-long resident of Hanover County and served the county in many capacities, including five years on the Hanover Planning Commission; ten years on the Hanover County Board of Supervisors, serving as Board Chairman in 1986. He was also past Director of Mechanicsville Little League. He was a loyal member of the Hanover Ruritan Club, with perfect attendance for 42 years, having served as president and also recipient of the Hanover Ruritan Community Service Award in 1968. He was currently serving on the Hanover Ruritan Board of Directors, the Hanover County Economic Development Commission, and the Mechanicsville Businessmen’s Association. Mr. Doggett was a member of American Legion Post 175. He was a former member of Concord Baptist Church and a member of Westhill Baptist, now Mechanicsville Baptist Church for over 40 years where he had served on the Board of Deacons. Mr. Doggett was an avid golfer and a member of the Hanover Country Club. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 30 at Mechanicsville Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
