Gary Elmore Obituary

Gary A. Elmore, 58, of Mechanicsville, and formally of Colonial Heights, died Thursday, November 10, 2005 at his residence. He was a native of Petersburg and the son of the late Claude Harris and Ruth Lufsey Elmore. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Elmore; two brothers, Sonny Lufsey and Claude Elmore; and a sister, Annette Bridgeman. Mr. Elmore was a member of Crowder Memorial Baptist Church. He was a Maintenance Inspector for the City of Colonial Heights and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Patricia S. Elmore; two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond "Monk" and Cara R. Elmore of Mechanicsville and Jason and Christy P. Elmore of Midlothian; three brothers, Joe Elmore of Sutherland, Raymond Elmore of Petersburg and George Elmore of Hopewell; and four grandchildren, Will, Brooke, Reese and Kenley Elmore. A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2005 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. The Rev. Joe Elmore and the Rev. R. Roland Powell will officiate. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
