I am Ken Brucks from Local 911 in Chicago. My heart is so heavy for you. The loss of a child is the fear of parents from their day of birth. I hope God's love and grace holds you and comforts you through this difficult time. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. In the Lord's peace, Ken.

I had the pleasure of knowing Gerald for a short period of time. I was in his training class at Pearson Government Soultions, and he was an outstanding classmate. Even though, our acquaintance was brief, he left a great impact on me through his kindness and respectful ways. I will keep you in my prayers. May you find peace and comfort in the loving memories of Gerald.

Janet,

I can't say that I know how you feel but I can say that I know that God will see you through this. You have had some tough hills to climb and I know that it hasn't been easy, but I also know that "He will not lead you where he will not sustain you."

I will keep you and family in my Prayers.

I was deeply saddened to hear of your tragic loss. When these things happen I am comforted by the words of Jeremiah 29:11,12 "For I myself well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you, is the utterance of Jehovah, thoughts of peace and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope. And you will certainly call me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you."

October 4, 2006

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To Janet, Melody and Tunie:

My heart is a lttle heavy right now, because the family is still in the healing stages with the passing of Gerald, Sr. this past May, and now to have Gerald, Jr. follow so closely behind, it just somehow doesn't seem fair. But please find comfort in knowing that even though we may be mourning here on earth, the heavens are rejoicing to welcome home two beloved sons.

Melody, it was so good to see both you and Gerald,Jr. at Grandpa's birthday party in July. The close bond between the two of you was very apparent and we had such a good visit.

All of you, take all the time you need to grieve as you must. Time will heal all wounds.

"May the peace which passeth all understanding guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Take care.

To the Venable Family:
Words cannot express the loss you feel at this moment. It is especially hard when the loss is that of a child. Just remember that God never makes a mistake. He calls the young, the old and any in between. He loves us all and knows what is best. I am in prayer for you. Be bless in the Lord and look to the Lord for all you need at this hour.

Dear Nettie, Tunie and Melody,
There are not enough words to express how sorry I am to hear of your loss. Please know that I mourn with you and will pray for each of you as you deal with the loss of Gerald. I love you and hope these words will give your comfort in the days, weeks and months to come. Revelation 14:11-13 (New International Version)

11And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name." 12This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.

13Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on."
"Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them."
