I think of this wonderful delightful southern lady and friend often and I'm sure I always will. Thank you for the many years of friendship and memories Gladys. I cannot think of Laurel, Virginia without thinking of you. They have a perpetual and comforting quality about them that continues to serve us both well into the future .

Your Mother was always a delight and a beaming ray of sunshine. She was indeed an inspiration and a wonderful example to all of us garden club members across the Metropolitan Richmond area! An admirer of your Mother, Susan Gaskill, Richmond Council of Garden Clubs

She was a true lady who could also kick up her heels. She was a dear friend to all...and a hoot! Will truly miss her young ways - even at her advanced age. We could all benefit from a bit of Gladys in us. Strut your stuff in Heaven, Gladys - miss you!

Gladys was one of my favorite people, she is my husband's Great Aunt. She was sweet, kind, funny and so welcoming. I wished we had spent more time together, however illness and life had other plans. She was one of a kind. A beautiful soul and will be missed.

Matt and Ann
Sorry for the loss of your Mother. My Momma´s obituary is also in today´s paper ( Helen Miller Sharpe ). They were good friend in school. I remember playing with y´all many years ago. The last time I saw Matt was at the Urbanna oyster festival. In the last couple of years Mom would ask me if I had talked with Gladys lately. Reconnected in heaven.

To the Family of my Dear Friend Gladys Bowles. I've tried calling her at home for the last couple of months without success and having no other information on family contacts, I thought she may have moved in with a family member. But today I thought I should check the Richmond obituaries and to my great sadness I find her name here. I cherished our long time friendship and our mutual love for the Laurel community, which goes back for me to the early 1950's. We worked
closely together on the Laurel School Reunion Committee for several years. Gladys was the epitome of as fine a southern Lady that I've ever had the joy of knowing. Our mutual interests, which were many, fostered long and interesting conversations that I will sadly miss. I had the great pleasure of having lunch with her and a couple of other long time friends a couple of months ago, of which I'll always be grateful for. She will always hold a special place in my heart and it's with a heavy sadness that I share in her passing. My deepest and most sincere condolences to all who knew and loved her !
