Herbert Pettiford Obituary
Herbert proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1969 and was a Vietnam veteran. Following his military service, he worked for UPS until his retirement. Throughout his life, Herbert embraced many roles and talents across various professions.
He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Juan (Barbara) Pettiford and Shawn Pettiford; grandchildren Alexander "Rashad," Jurni Mary, Devin Pettiford, Amber Volk, Jacob Byrd, Amber Byrd, and Kaleb Byrd; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Herbert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Segar Pettiford.
A devoted fan of the Washington Redskins, Herbert enjoyed following all types of sports. His presence brought warmth to those around him-as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

The loss of another friend from UPS is so hard to take. Even as we age out we keep expecting all our friends to remain. Such is not His plan. We must adjust to this over and over. Comfort can be found in the word. For me it is when King David said at the loss of his son. He cannot come to me but I will go to him.

To the Pettiford Family Wishing you peace and comfort during this difficult time. I'll never forget you all taking me camping growing up on Laurel Pine. Playing in the backyard. We too lost Mom on 10/24/2025 and our hearts go out to you all also. Heartbroken for us all.
