Hettie Oppenhimer Obituary

OPPENHIMER, Hettie Bernice Dunn, 84, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on June 11, 2024. Bernice was born and raised in Aylett, Virginia, and attended King William High School.

All who knew Bernice can attest to her vibrant and outgoing personality. She surrounded herself with beautiful, bold color, art, and objects. Our family's favorite sounds were of her laughter and her beautiful singing voice. Her gifts, like her, were always unique, colorful, and fun, and often accompanied by ridiculous amounts of confetti.

Bernice was fun-loving and enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends. She especially loved time at the beach and Christmas trips to New York with her daughter. Her love for her daughter, Robyn, was unparalleled, and her memory will continue to be a source of strength for Robyn and the rest of her family.

Bernice is survived by her loving daughter, Robyn Jones Nuckols, and Robyn's husband, Tim Nuckols; sister, Margaret Judson Dunn Parker; nephew, Bernard Woodrow (BW) Dunn, his son James Dunn; and niece, Diane Parker Ozolins, and her children, Krisjanis (Kris) and Carline (Carly) Ozolins.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wise Oppenhimer Jr.; brother, Bernard Woodrow (Sonny) Dunn; mother, Helen Bernice Atkins Dunn; and father, Percy Woodrow Dunn.

No services are planned at this time to honor Bernice's life. Flowers, calls, and visitors are welcome with advance notice. We ask that you hug your family and spread your love around like the confetti in Bernice's cards.

Bernice was always friendly and we saw each other at family events while my first cousin, Henry (Mans) was alive and always shared Christmas cards. She was so sweet and loving to him. I send my sympathy to her daughter Robyn. Alice Spilman

We are sad to learn of Bernice´s passing. She, Henry, and Robyn were the very best neighbors, always warm, funny, and gracious.
