Hortense Smith Obituary
March 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Marian Payne; spouse, Thomas H. Smith Sr.; three brothers, Gillie, Charles and Warner Payne; and one sister, Cleo Binford. She is survived by five loving children, Thomas Smith (Sheryl), Sherrell Smith, Charles Smith, Patrice Smith and Kelvin Smith; two brothers, Bernard and Elden Payne; one sister-in-law, Elease Payne; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; devoted niece, Gail Payne; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, 2530 Dogtown Road, Goochland, Va. where a viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2023 the family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023 at New Fork Baptist Church, 16 New Fork Church Lane, Palmyra, Va. Interment Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery, 1620 Shiloh Church Road, Palmyra, Va.
