To Beth, Jed, and Cathy,

Jimmy’s spirit is a extraordinarily strong one. I very infrequently go online to read the Richmond Times Dispatch but something told me to do so yesterday afternoon for the first time in months. I was drawn towards the Obituaries and understood exactly why I felt such a pull when I read the article about Jimmy’s death. My most vivid memories of him are when we were all young, taking our health for granted, and ready to lick the world. Those were good times. To this day, 40 years later, I still think of Jimmy whenever I hear the song, The Duke of Earl. We had a wonderful conversation several months ago when I called him and I chuckled afterwards at the fact that he was still a rascal who could make me laugh. I truly am thinking of you, his children, and of my best friend, Cathy, the first love of Jimmy’s life.

With great affection,
