James Mitchell Obituary

James Wilson Mitchell

September 20, 1948 - September 13, 2025

James Wilson "Jim" Mitchell, 76, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on September 13, 2025.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who valued family above all else. He is survived by his wife, Doris; his daughter, Michelle Dennis; his son, Luke (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Sadie and Crawford Mitchell; and his brothers, Bill and Ray.

A proud veteran, Jim served in the United States Air Force before beginning a long and dedicated career with Dominion Energy. He approached both his work and his life with integrity and steady resolve.

Jim had a deep love for golf, traveling, and time spent at the beach. He never passed up the chance to enjoy a good meal with friends and was always up for sharing a laugh. A lifelong sports fan with a sharp sense of humor and a gift for storytelling, he brought warmth and laughter to every room he entered. Most of all, he cherished time with his grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his strength of character, devotion to those he loved, and the joy he brought to others through kindness, humor, and heart.

A service honoring Jim's life will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia on Tuesday, September 30th at 3 p.m.

I didn't know Jim for long, but enjoyed his company on the golf course and as a friend. He will be missed.
