Jane Wait Obituary
Jane is retired from the University of Richmond where she worked in the Lora Robins Gallery. She attended Independence Christian Church in Ashland. She was an active member of the Ashland community, she was an Ashland Museum board member, served on Friends of the Ashland Library, Ashland Hanover Untold Stories Committee, and was a member of the Ashland Community Gospel Choir. She enjoyed time with her many friends playing bunco, bridge, mahjong and was part of book clubs. Jane and Rob were honored in 2005 with Tree Farmer of the year by the Virginia Forestry Association for Five Poles Tree Farm.
Everyone who knew Jane will remember her for her joy for life, sense of humor, faith, and her unforgettable laugh.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jane's visitation on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home in Ashland. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Independence Christian Church, 14023 Independence Rd, Ashland, VA. Interment will immediately follow in Woodland Cemetery. Online condolences and fond memories of Jane may be offered to the family on the Woody Funeral Home- Atlee Chapel website.

Mrs. Wait was a neighbor of mine when I was a child on Cokesburg and then again as a teen when my family moved to Westham Woods. She was a dear friend of our family for years. Mrs. Wait had an infectious laugh and joy that she took everywhere she went. She was always so fun to be around and a friend to my mom over the years!

So shocked and saddened to loose a dear friend. Just learned of her passing as we were out of town.Her love of life and laugh will be a wonderful memory and times shared on Cokesburg Lane.

Jane left the world a better place than she found it. I met her almost 30 years ago when she was at UR. There was instant commraderie. Her beautiful spirit shone through everything she did. Love & prayers to her family.
