Jean Faglie Obituary

Jean Blankinship Faglie, age 91, of Mechanicsville, Virginia passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025. She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Carl Castle and son in law, Charles Aldridge. Jean is survived by her three children, Roland Lee Faglie, Jr., Karen Aldridge, and Robert F. Faglie; three grandchildren, Leigh Ann Whitley (Wayne), Katie Aldridge and Rebecca D. Anderson; three great grandchildren, Logan and Gene Whitley and Avery Anderson. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Blankinship Neese and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean's professional career was with the Circuit Court of the City of Richmond, but her passion for reading, writing, and her belief that all things are possible encouraged her to attend Virginia Commonwealth University. At the age 58, she was awarded a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. Her first book, The China I Know, was published when she was 74. Jean's sweet disposition, her wisdom and thoughtfulness are gifts she leaves to console those who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, at Brook Hill, on Saturday, November 15 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at Emmanuel Church at Brook Hill at which Jean was a lifelong member.
