Jeanne Nichols Allen

1930 - 2024

ALLEN, Jeanne Nichols, passed away on February 4th, 2024 in Henrico, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Mary Josephine Felthaus Allen. Jeanne is survived by her brother, John J. Allen, Jr., his wife Anne, and by her nieces and nephews, Suzanne Petrohovich (Bob), Denise Carter (Jeff), John J. Allen, III, and Eric Frank Allen. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews, Greg Petrohovich (Eliza), Drew Petrohovich (Rachel), Kelly Petrohovich, Ashley Smith (Austin), and Tyler Carter, all of Richmond, Virginia.

After St. Gertrude High School graduation, Jeanne received her BA degree in Economics with a double minor in Sociology and Philosophy from Dumbarton College of Holy Cross in Washington, D.C. in 1951.

Jeanne retired in 1991 after 18 years as Director of Personnel for the County of Henrico. She spent 6 years on St. Gertrude's Board of Visitors and two years as St. Benedict's Catholic Church Adult Education Committee. Jeanne was keenly interested in Richmond's history and provided tours of the VMFA, Monument Avenue, the Valentine Museum, the John Marshall House, and Hollywood Cemetery.

Jeanne was well traveled throughout the United States and across the globe.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Benedict's Catholic Church 300 N Sheppard St, Richmond, VA 23221 on Friday, February 9 at 11 a.m. with a graveside service to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 1700 1st Ave, Richmond, VA 23222. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to St. Gertrude High School 12829 River Rd, Richmond, VA 23238.
