Jeanne Bradley Obituary

Jeanne B. Bradley

Jeanne B. Bradley, 90, of Mechanicsville, a beloved community pillar whose life was defined by joyful service, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

Jeanne's legacy is one of unwavering commitment to her community and faith. She was a founding member of Westhill Baptist Church, which later became Mechanicsville Baptist Church, helping to build the congregation from its very start.

Her generous spirit was formally recognized when she was named Hanover County's 2015 Volunteer of the Year. She truly enjoyed nothing more than giving her time and pouring her energy into numerous causes. She was a dedicated volunteer for disaster relief efforts, making trips to New York City after 9/11, Slidell, LA after Hurricane Katrina, and additional times of need in Plattsburgh, NY, and Florida. She also traveled on church mission trips, including a journey to Africa to help those in need.

Her local service was just as profound. She was a passionate advocate for the Hanover Adult Center, where she served on the Board of Directors, and also dedicated many years to the Hanover County Council on Aging. For decades, she was a familiar and faithful presence, volunteering at the election polls at Mechanicsville Elementary School.

While her community involvement was vast, her family was the center of her world. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sheriff Harold E. Bradley. She is survived by her children, Carol Bradley (H. L. Bowie), Harold "Bubba" Bradley, Jr. (Stacy), and Allen Bradley (Amy Aiken); four grandchildren, Justin Bradley, Olivia Hollins, Will Hollins, and Allysia Bradley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who cherished her.

Known for her wonderful spirit, Jeanne was also an avid VCU Rams basketball fan and proudly attended all the NCAA Tournament games that VCU played in 2011, including the Final Four.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.

Services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, November 10, 2025, at Mechanicsville Baptist Church, 8016 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.

Interment will follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park. Following the interment, family and friends are invited for a luncheon and reception back at Mechanicsville Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mechanicsville Baptist Church, allowing her legacy of service to continue.

It was a blessing to know Jeanne, see her smile ,hear her laughter as she greeted the voters at the poll and to know she really cared for others.
I pray her life will be a light for others to follow her "walk of faith." SHE WILL BE MISSED.To the Bradley kids: your Mom
Was very SPECIAL, so sorry for your loss.
