It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jessica Margaret Easley on Nov 2, 2025, at her home in Longmont, Colorado. Jessica left us far too early after valiantly battling health issues. She will be greatly missed for her caring of others, love for family and animals, sense of humor, and dedication to teaching. Jessica will be remembered for many contributions to her family, friends and community.
Jessica graduated from Douglass Southall Freeman High School in Richmond, Virginia and earned a Master of Education degree from the University of Virginia. After living in Athens, Georgia, and Estes Park, Colorado, Jessica focused her educational career in Colorado's St. Vrain Valley School District, teaching at Lyons Elementary and Niwot Elementary, where she was nominated multiple times for Educator of the Year honors. In addition to her classroom teaching responsibilities, Jessica organized district-wide math curricula and a Six Traits of Writing class. She tutored numerous students with a schedule that often rivaled her busy school schedule. Learning with Ms. Easley went beyond lessons or books and was more about discovery, laughter, and confidence. Jessica had a remarkable way of turning ordinary days into unforgettable experiences, and her legacy will inspire generations to come.
Jessica was deeply involved in her community. Each year she created handmade crafts, including beaded horseshoes and magnet quotes, with proceeds donated to an African sister school and the Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center. She volunteered at the Longmont Humane Society and the Therapeutic Riding Center. Jessica loved and was loved by every animal she met. Her love for horses was special, and her compassion and patience enabled riders of all abilities to experience the healing power of horsemanship. Jessica had an extraordinary bond with her dogs, and at times she was considered a genuine "dog whisperer". Her own dogs were her family and companions, and she cared for them as one would a child.
Jessica had a wonderful group of friends who offered so many loving memories. To share only a few: "Jessica never forgot a birthday", "Our passion for the Lyons Bluegrass Festival", and "Encouraging each other with laughter and determination on half marathons and trail runs". Common to every friend's message are Jessica's compassion, warmth, sense of humor, generosity, optimism, and love for life. Her friends will never forget her "laughter and mischievous smile that always made others feel at ease" and the "sparkle in her eye that made every day a little brighter".
She is preceded in death by her father, Dennis Flannagan Easley and her mother, Baerbel Gisela Rintisch Easley. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Mark Erik Easley, sister-in-law Mary Lynne Grigg, nephews Ford Easley and Benson Easley, and niece Charlotte Easley of Durham, NC.
At Jessica's direction, a formal memorial service is not planned. Should you be so inclined, please consider contributing to the Jessica Easley Education Scholarship in the St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation, an annual merit-based scholarship program established to support graduating students pursuing a career in education.
