Jessie Jeter Thomas

THOMAS, Jessie Jeter, 80, of Chesterfield, formerly of Varina, passed away May 20, 2021. She was preceded in death by father, James R. Jeter Sr.; mother, Hazel M. Jeter; sister, Dorothy J. Cheatham; and husband of 40 years, Vernon D. Thomas. She is survived by her brother, James R. Jeter Jr.; sisters, Mary V. Jeter and Mildred J. Watson; sons, Timothy D. Thomas (Tammy), Mark A. Thomas (Tracy), David V. Thomas (Nicki); daughter, Hazel T. Murphy (Rickey); and stepson, Michael Thomas; nine grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb, Miranda, Nathan, Brianna, Luke, Cierra, Whitney and Cayce; and five great-grandchildren. She worked as an accounting clerk for many years with Lawyer's Title Insurance and retired with LandAmerica. Jessie loved her husband, children, grandchildren and other family members. She was supportive in her children's sports activities. She enjoyed fishing with her family during vacations. The family would like to thank Danley Marshall and her caregiving team for all the care and support. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 27 from 11 a.m. until service time at 12 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 14301 Ashbrook Pkwy., Chesterfield, Va. 23832. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, 8985 Hungary Rd, Henrico, Va. 23294.
