Joan Cousins Obituary

COUSINS, Joan Crenshaw Cousins, born June 10, 1945 in Richmond, Va., passed away at home after a battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 76 on February 2, 2022.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Evelyn Crenshaw; in-laws, Robert and Annie Lee Cousins; and her brothers, George Winston Crenshaw Jr. and Curtis Vernon Crenshaw.

Joan is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Robert Benjamin Cousins Jr.; and her adored children; son, Gregory Scott Cousins and wife, Julie; and daughter, Jennifer Cousins Estes and husband, Charles.

She is also survived by her loved and cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Alden Cousins, Meagan Victoria Cousins, Charles Louis Estes III; and loving niece, Christi Crenshaw Zelazny.

With love, RETURN TO SENDER.

To Bob, Greg, and Jenn--Please know that my thoughts are with you all at this time. How I will miss my dear friend, Joan. We have been hanging out together since we were seven! I knew how much she loved you all. I was among those who were lucky enough to call her friend, and she will live on in my heart forever. Love, Marsha

I had the pleasure of teaching alongside Joan during my tenure at Midlothian High School. She was professional, talented, fun-loving, kind, and always on her game. She was a tremendous asset to Chesterfield County Public Schools, her positive impact on our community will last for generations. Rest easy Joan.

So incredibly sorry. Sometimes there are no words to really capture the life someone lived, the joy they had and brought to others. But seeing the words that have been written and knowing at least some of the people who were blessed as her family, it is beyond clear that her love and life have made an impact and created legacies that will carry on. Peace and prayers to her family and friends.

My heartfelt feelings of sadness to Bob, Greg, and Jennifer after recent passing of Joan...she had such an inspiring life as loving wife, mother, renown teacher, outgoing personality, as well as a terrific Chesterfield Ladies Soccer team all of us mothers who had supported our children“s teams who was an original member of the new league...we had wonderful time for 10 years or so and what terrific exercise and commaraderie! She will be sorely miss by all who knew her... with much affection
