Johanna Hoffman Sciortino

January 29, 1936 - August 5, 2024

Johanna Hoffman Sciortino, 88, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2024. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Carl H. Sciortino, and her parents, Ronald and Cecilia Hoffman. Professionally known as Dr, Johanna Hoffman, she was a well-respected psychiatrist and practiced psychiatry in Richmond for many years. Following Carl's retirement from teaching, they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she was employed as a psychiatrist for Cigna. They later returned to the Richmond area where she continued a part-time psychiatric practice until her retirement. Johanna and Carl loved to travel and together they traveled the world, often making one or more trips abroad each year as their health allowed. A gourmet cook herself, she and Carl enjoyed trying new restaurants in the Richmond area. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church as well as many professional organizations. A Mass of Christan burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday September 13, 2024 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, Richmond, Va 23233. Inurnment to follow in Saint Mary's Catholic Church Columbarium and Consolation Garden.

Dr. Hoffman was the best psychiatricist I ever dealt with, I can remember her giving me her home phone when I was having a particularly hard time, I very much look forward to seeing her again in Heaven
