John Hall Obituary

John Aubrey Hall, 76, of Mechanicsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. He was born on July 10, 1949. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Ozelle Hall.

John graduated from Varina High School, Class of 1967. He worked for CSX as a conductor and brakeman and later as a trainer. He retired in 2007 after more than 30 years of service.

He loved street rods, NASCAR, spending time with family, and keeping his yard leaf-free; his leaf-blowing was constant and legendary. He volunteered for the Ashcake Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Hanover County Sheriff's Office Motor Assistance Patrol.

John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda; his daughters and sons-in-law and love, Shandie & Matt Covington and Kristy & Craig Redford; grandchildren, Emma and Colin Covington, and Andrew Redford; and his brother, Jimmy (Janine) Hall.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park.
