John Warren "John John" Jones III

JONES, John Warren III, "John John", 59, departed this life Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was the son of Virginia Jackson Jones and the late John Warren Jones, Jr. John graduated from John Marshall High School in 1984. He studied business at VCU. His grandfather, John W. Jones, Sr. and great uncle, Cornelius A. Jones, established Church Hill Cleaning Works in 1931. John dedicated his entire working career to the family business, which he became the owner at the passing of his father. All of the Jones men are highly respected business men in the Church Hill community. John was very kind and friendly with all. He was also very generous and his generosity spread throughout the community. Part of his philanthropy included providing affordable housing to the underserved. On many occasions he opened the Jones residence to serve as a shelter for others in need. Matthew 25:40. In 1989, John met the one who would become the love of his life, Renee D. Chavis. They were married in 1995 and were happily married for 28 ½ years. John loved his family. His legacy lives on. Psalms 112:1-3. Left to honor and treasure his memories are his devoted wife, Renee C. Jones; three daughters, Johnna and Breanna Jones and Kia Chavis; son, Carlton Walton; nine grandchildren; mother, Virginia J. Jones; two sisters, Johnilyn Doswell and Teri Jones; brother, Terence Jones; aunts, Cheryl Williams (Earl) and Helen King; two uncles, Walter and Joseph Jackson (Joyce), nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-love, Patrice C. Maye (Derrick); two brothers-in-love, Ralph and Timothy Chavis (Sarah); other relatives and friends.

Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. where viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at the St. Paul's Baptist Church, 4247 Creighton Road. Dr. Lance C. Watson Pastor. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
