John Edward Wimbush

Departed this life May 5, 2025. John Edward Wimbush, age 76, of Richmond. He was a retired Director of Science Laboratories, at the University of Richmond.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea Long Wimbush; two sons, Joseph Wallace Wimbush (Apryl) and Amon D'Andre Long; one sister, Sharon Jones; two brothers, Steve Jones (Priscilla) and Barry Jones; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters in law, Jacqueline Long-Manns (Charles) and Vicki Jordan (Henry); one brother in law, Rev. Stanley Long (Terri); other relatives and friends.

Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where Mr. Wimbush can be viewed on Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Second Baptist Church, 1400 Idlewood Avenue, on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 2 p.m., where remains will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral time. Dr. James Harris (Pastor and Officiant). Rev. Martin Ellerbe (Eulogist). Interment in Danville, VA. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the church at 1:45 p.m. on Monday.
