Joseph Paul Jowaisas

1938 - 2022

JOWAISAS, Joseph Paul, of Richmond, Va., passed away peacefully with his children at his side on November 30, 2022.

Joseph "Joe" was born on August 23, 1938 to Joseph George and Kathleen Dagenais Jowaisas in Brooklyn, N.Y. Joe graduated from the College of Holy Cross in 1960. He met the love of his life, Barbara Lewis Lane, in New York City. They relocated to Richmond where Joe had a successful career in banking, followed by a second career as a realtor.

Joe was a devoted husband and a loving and supportive father. He was predeceased by his wife and parents. He is survived by his five children, Anne Dagenais Jowaisas, Elizabeth Lane Short (Gary), Joseph Paul Jowaisas Jr. (Brooke), Mary Lewis Powell Jowaisas (Adam Rosenkoetter) and Robert Gwalthmey Jowaisas; and five grandchildren, Zoe Evan Lester, Madeline Eloise Lester, Eleanor Powell Rosekoetter, Maya Kathleen Rosenkoetter and Walker Powell Jowaisas.

Joe loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a devout Catholic and his strong faith guided him through his life. Joe had a charming, warm personality that endeared him to everyone he met.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kiwanis Club of Richmond. The service is at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 10 at St. Bridget Catholic Church.
