I can't remember what I ate for dinner last night but I have absolutely instant recall of Josh's childhood phone number on Green Mount Road. I must have called it a thousand times during elementary school. Josh was my first best friend and protector. He was there with me on the first day of kindergarten and for years after. We had some sort of pre- or post- school daycare of sorts we would walk to, I don't exactly remember what it was, but what I DO remember is that I never bothered to learn how to get there because Josh would always make sure I found the place. We were on the same soccer team for about 15 minutes before he moved up to the travel team full of actual athletes. We went to Camp Seagull together. He had to watch out for me there too because not only did I weigh about 70lbs and stand about 4'4" (see photo) I couldn't pass even the entry level Sunfish Skipper test, which held up our entire cabin from getting our White Feather. I'm sure Josh saved me from a beat down. I lasted only one year; Josh of course went on to run the whole program and sail the world. At one of our many sleepovers at his house he and Justin had a wrestling match that made me laugh so hard I threw up and had to go home. You'd be amazed at how often I've thought about over the last 40 years. We played legendary games of capture the flag and rode BMX bikes on dirt trails back when the woods in our neighborhood stretched to Charlottesville (at least they seemed to).
It's to my everlasting regret that we lost touch after high school. Josh was an incredible person and the world is worse for his absence. My heart goes out to Beth, his children and his whole family. May his memory be for a blessing. Love, Jason Rosenberg

So sorry to hear of Josh's passing. If only everyone contributed to the betterment of society like Josh, all of our lives would be greatly enhanced. He was a natural leader, driven by his passion and a wonderful exemplar to everyone who knew him.
