Juanita "Nita" Wiseman Dunkum

age 91, formerly of Cold Harbor, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 31. She was the widow of John Willis Dunkum and is survived by her son, Kenneth Dunkum (Suzette) of Port Isabel, TX; grandson, Brice Dunkum; and great-grandchildren, Bella and Damien. A child during the Great Depression, Nita very early in life experienced the family responsibilities of a farm home. She grew up in Buckingham County and would meet the love and great partner of her life, John. They were together for almost 70 years. Nita was a dedicated public servant retiring from the Commonwealth of Virginia's ABC Board. She was a member of the Pamunkey River Garden Club. Nita loved the Lord. She served Him faithfully at Beulah Church as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, choir member, and officer of the Presbyterian Women. Nita was good natured, cheerful, made friends easily, had a grand sense of humor, readily thought of others, was fiercely independent, and made the most of all situations, a woman with true grit.

A memorial service will be held at Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, on Sunday, January 5 (Today), at 2 p.m., with visitation one hour before the service. Interment will follow at the Beulah Church Cemetery, 7252 Beulah Church Rd., with a concluding reception at Fairfield Presbyterian Church, 6930 Cold Harbor Rd.
