Kenneth Davis Obituary

DAVIS, Kenneth "Ken" Alfred, age 65, of Richmond, Va., passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 after a brave three-year battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Manley Davis and Barbara Hipps Davis; and by his niece, McKennah Moore.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Davis; son, Kiel Davis; stepdaughter, Rachel Greene (Abe); sisters, Johnnie Davis (Marcelo Cavada) and Krish Moore (Pieter); brother, Chuck Davis (Stephanie); nieces, Katie Davis and Mady Moore; nephews, Michael Davis (Brooke) and Brent Moore (Jessica); and many great-nieces and nephews.

Ken was, first and foremost, a family man. He was a loving husband, son, brother, and uncle. He was also a devoted father, gentle stepdad, and beloved "second dad" to his son's half-siblings, Brenna and Patrick Monk.

After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Administration of Justice, Ken worked as a collections manager for a number of Richmond companies. He spent the last 13 years of his career at Wyeth (now Pfizer) where he eventually became Manager of a Customer Support Team that served the Area Sales and Inside Sales teams. Ken's favorite job came after retirement, though, when he delivered meals in the community for Feedmore's Meals on Wheels program.

Ken was a cool, hip dude who spent many happy, quiet moments sitting on the deck of his mid-century modern home watching the garden and the backyard wildlife. He enjoyed a well-made cocktail, a tasty meal, a good cigar, and an occasional round of golf. He also had a passion for music of all kinds, with a special fondness for jazz.

At his request, Ken's remains have been donated to the Forensics Anthropology Program at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. July 22, 2023 at Bliley's - Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, Va. 23230. A reception will immediately follow the service.
